Having any type of breast surgery is a journey. Preparing for BII surgery, actually having the surgery and recovering from surgery are all crucial parts of the journey.
The Chrysalis Method provides women with information, tools and guidance throughout this entire journey. We take a 3-pronged approach to recovery:
Nutritional Guidance
Movement
Support
We have had BII patients ask if they should begin using the nutritional guidance, movements and support forum before their planned surgery and our answer is always- YES!
We all know that we should try to be as healthy as possible after our surgeries to promote successful recovery, but preparing our bodies for surgery is just as important.
There are 3 major ways that The Chrysalis Method can help you to prepare your body for breast surgery, which align with the recommendations of surgeons across the US.
Follow a “Clean” or “Detox” Diet
We provide 21 clean and healthy recipes in our 12-week recovery program. These recipes are high in ingredients that promote healing and flush out toxins in the body.
While there are toxins such as anesthesia and pain medications after BII surgery we know we need to flush out, there can be toxins present in the body before surgery too. It’s important to reduce the inflammation caused by some processed foods such as sugar and help your body prepare to heal inflammation after surgery.
According to an article by the Cleveland Clinic, eating clean, whole foods before surgery is one of their tips to having a successful surgical outcome.
Increase Range of Motion with Exercise
We also include movements to use before and after BII surgery to increase your range of motion and regain your strength after surgery.
By incorporating exercise into your pre-surgery routine, you drastically improve your surgical recovery. Getting back into an exercise habit is much more difficult if you are not exercising before surgery, and it is important to have guidance before and after surgery to reduce the risk of injury.
Get Support from Women Who Have Been Where You Are
We have been told by our patients in the program that having support from other women who know exactly what they are going through is one of the biggest areas of benefit in the program.
This kind of support is invaluable- this is a place where you can share your excitement, anticipation, fears, ask for advice on bras after surgery, hear how other women got through the emotional rollercoaster after surgery, the list goes on and on.
We believe in not only preparing the body but also the mind and spirit for surgery as well. When our mind, body, and spirit work in harmony together the recovery process is so much easier.
Raising Awareness about BII
Did you see our spotlight on News Channel 5? We want to make sure women have all of the information necessary when making a decision about their bodies. Not everyone with implants experiences breast implant illness, but those who do deserve to get the clarity, structure and support during their recovery as well as leading up to their surgery.
We were asked about our program and if we help women who are undergoing explant surgery related to BII. You can view it below: Channel 5 News
